The Cottage Market

The Cottage Market Mountrath began on Saturday 3rd June 2017 with 18 Marketeers at The Macra Hall, Main St. This was the location where the old Country Markets took place for many years in the town. It was privilege to revive the market experience in the town as a place where Community gather and come together on a regular basis. Our Marketeers bring all things homemade, home baked and hand crafted. Goods for sale include delicious home baking, knitted goods, art, pottery, needlework, handmade soaps, upcycled goods, organic vegetables and lots more.

Each month, the market hosts a charity stall which is allocated to a local group or club. The stall provides a bank of good quality second hand books which are donated regularly. Any proceeds collected on this stall goes directly to the group on the day. There has been well over €1,000 collected to date. The wonderful Christmas Market held in the old Brigidine Convent in December 2017 facilitated over 40 different Marketeers. The Christmas Market was held in conjunction with the announcement of the development of a Community Hub in the convent for the benefit of the whole community.

We intend to continue to hold a regular market on the first Saturday of each month and a special market for special occasions throughout the year such as St. Patrick’s Day, Summer Fete and Christmas, we look forward to seeing you there.
