Mountrath Mens Shed

Men’s Shed Mountrath have had an amazing journey since they were formed in July 2016. They meet each Tues & Thurs evening at 8pm in the old girl’s school on Patrick St. There are 15+ active members and just as many casual members. They were mentored and financially supported by the Forum until they established themselves.

Since then they have been involved in a variety of activities together. They have completed a number of interesting courses including horticulture, beginner computers & wood crafting. They have also gone on a number of social outings including trips to Men’s Sheds in other areas, even as far as Cork. They are invaluable help each month at the Cottage Market. As well as growing their numbers and enjoying the social element, the lads have been busy with their bee, bird & bat boxes development, production & sales. Their boxes can be seen on farm lands throughout the district.

They are have engaged in a small engine course and a horticulture course. Not ones to sit on their laurels, they have successfully secured a grant to for their own polytunnel. This will be their new focus for the coming year, while still expanding their range of woodwork products for sale.
